Hello! This is Mrs. Khan. Teacher by day & hacker by night. I never sleep… almost.
Here are a few cool facts about me:
- I have 2 daughters, Marya (23, graduated in June 2024 with a Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences, currently working full time in Special Education at a Bethel School District elementary school) and Sara (19, junior at University of Washington, Seattle).

- I can read 3 languages and speak 2.25 fluently!)
- I grew up in India and Africa. I have been in the United States since December 1991.
- I love to read and my favorite books are personal development books and non-fiction of all types. I do enjoy Sci-Fi and mystery!
- I don’t watch much TV but love movies.
- I love music, especially music of the 80s.
- I love Broadway shows and my favorite is Phantom of the Opera! My dream came true in December 2019 when I was able to see it live on Broadway in New York!
- I also enjoy travel, photography, gardening and cooking.
- I love coffee, chocolate and candles! (My 3 Cs)
- I am super organized and can’t stand clutter.
- I love pens. I have quite the collection and keep adding more.
- I have a Master’s degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, and a Teaching degree from Central Washington University!
- I worked as a Graphic Designer and Editor for many years before I became a teacher.
- I have published several articles and artwork in various journals and news magazines!
Some life skills I’d like to share:
- Use a digital (or paper) calendar to record important events and due dates.
- Write down your thoughts in a notebook. Your thoughts are valuable.
- Create lists for everything and check them off when you complete your tasks.
- Read a little every single day.
- Go on walks and talk to yourself. Tune in to your heart and mind. Listen to nature.
- Find a hobby. Ever thought about writing a blog or photography? They are cheap and easy to do.
- Don’t ever doubt yourself. You are designed to great things!
- Learn a new skill when you can.
- Be your own best friend.
- Stand up for what you believe in.
- Learn to fact-check before you join the band wagon.
- Define your boundaries.
- Don’t let anyone steal your dreams.
- Ask questions.
- Hold fast to your beliefs and core values.
- YOU are the most important person in your life, first.
- OWN YOUR LIFE! You are in charge!
- Learn how to manage yourself. Self regulate.
